frequently asked questions

who may enroll?

All those who seek to enroll must be approved by their pastor. Anyone who wants to learn the Word of God, anyone who aspires to receive ministerial licensing or the next level of licensing, or anyone who aspires to earn a degree in Christian Ministry may apply. As long as your pastor offers his approval, we invite you to attend!

We do recommend that students be at least 16 years of age, as ExCeLL does require considerable time and effort, and we do not want that to interfere with their high school studies. Students younger than 18 must have parental consent given to their pastor.

what is the cost of tuition?

Costs have been kept low in order to give everyone an opportunity to attend. For the entire eleven-week semester, the cost for both courses is only $240 (including student curriculum and course outlines), plus any required textbooks. For the cost of one online course, you could take three ExCeLL Now courses! For the cost of one semester on campus, you could earn your Associate of Arts Degree in Christian Ministry through ExCell Now!

what are the benefits of taking courses through ExCeLL now?

Full college credit is awarded for successfully completing each course just as if one had attended the classes on campus or through TBC Online. An Associate of Arts in Christian Ministry Degree will be awarded upon completion of the Associate program and a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry Degree will be awarded upon completion of the Bachelor program.

Your transcript will remain a part of your permanent file at Texas Bible College. What a value to add to any job or ministerial resume! Although we are not currently accredited, we are pursuing accreditation with
the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC). There are also accredited colleges and graduate schools that accept our students’ credits for transfer. If you are interested in learning more about those colleges, please contact the ExCeLL office or the Academic office at TBC.

what kinds of courses do you offer?

ExCeLL Now is both serious and practical Bible study. We are not interested in how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, or whether Adam had a navel, or if God can make a rock so big even He could not lift it. “Strifes of words…and foolish questions that do gender strife” are avoided (I Tim. 6:3-5; II Tim 2:23).

The Bible becomes a new and wonderful book when one studies it objectively and diligently. Casual reading, or merely hearing homilies taken from it, is insufficient to truly discover its worth to mankind. The Bible is not to be dissected in an attempt to find a flaw, but ingested that it may become a way of life.

ExCeLL Now offers students the chance to really delve into the Word of God, to understand its principles, to discover its wisdom, to be equipped with it and transformed by it. Every class session is packed with useful information and solid Bible teaching. For more information on our courses, please visit the Degree Plan or UPCI Licensing Plan pages.

when and how often are courses taught?

Courses will be offered one evening a week for a period of eleven weeks. Classes may begin as early as 6pm, or 7pm, and will end no later that 10pm. Two courses are taught each night with approximately one hour and twenty minutes devoted to each one with a break in between. Doctrine, Gifts of the Spirit, Biblical Interpretation, Christian Ethics and other practical courses are taught by individuals of experience and ability in your local church.

who are my instructors?

Instructors for the courses are chosen from among qualified ministers at the church where classes are held. They will be able “word handlers” (II Cor. 4:2; II Tim. 2:15) who are “apt to teach” (I Tim. 3:2). The pastor can appoint qualified instructors as he/she sees fit.
